I Want to Write to You Like Someone Learning
(2015 – ongoing)
Evolving in form and with an iterative nature, I Want to Write to You Like Someone Learning
manifests as single artworks, public readings, lectures and publications. Through a process of reconfiguration of elements coming together at each iteration, the work combines drawing, painting, writing and installation.
Through the prism of the plants Brugmansia and Mimosa Púdica, IWTWTYLSL follows an autobiographical account of encounters with plants and landscapes which is positioned in constellation with multiple voices. The coming together of this polyphony brings into question persisting embedded colonial perspectives, inherited languages used to present and represent the botanical world and contemporary preoccupations with the understanding of the idea and experience of nature.
